Frequently Asked Questions
Booking & Planning
Q: How do we book you for our session or wedding? A: It's a simple process! Start by filling out the contact form on my website with details about what you're looking for. For portrait sessions, I'll send over my detailed pricing guide and we'll find a date that works. For weddings, we'll schedule a complimentary consultation call to get to know each other and discuss your vision. To officially reserve your date, I require a signed contract and a non-refundable retainer.
Q: How far in advance should we book? A: It varies by the season and service.
For Weddings: I typically book 10-18 months in advance, especially for prime season dates (May-October). I am currently booking for 2026.
For Signature Portrait Sessions: I recommend booking at least 1-2 months in advance, especially for fall sessions, as my calendar fills up quickly.
For Mini Sessions: These are offered on specific dates and are announced to my email list first. They often sell out within hours, so joining the list is the best way to get a spot!
Q: What is your payment schedule? A: A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date for portrait sessions, with the remaining balance due one week before our session. For weddings, a 30% retainer is required at booking, with the remaining balance due 30 days before your wedding date.
Q: What is your rescheduling and cancellation policy? A: I understand that life happens. For portrait sessions, you may reschedule one time with at least 48 hours' notice, and your retainer will transfer to the new date. For weddings, the retainer is non-refundable as it holds your date, preventing me from booking any other work. All of these details are clearly outlined in my contract.
Session & Wedding Day Details
Q: Where are you located and do you travel? A: I am based in Shelton, Connecticut, and serve all of CT and the greater New England area. I absolutely love to travel! For locations outside of a 60-mile radius of Shelton, a travel fee may apply. This is especially common for weddings, and I create custom travel quotes for destination events.
Q: What is your photography style? A: My style is best described as timeless, authentic, and story-driven. I combine the candid, emotional moments with beautifully guided portraiture. I use natural light whenever possible and my editing is true-to-life with a touch of warmth, ensuring your photos will not feel dated in years to come.
Q: What should we wear for our portrait session? A: This is the most popular question! Upon booking, I will send you a comprehensive Style Guide with tips and inspiration. In short, I recommend coordinating, comfortable outfits in neutral or complementary color palettes rather than being too "matchy-matchy." The goal is for you to feel like the best version of yourselves!
Q: What happens if there is bad weather on our session date? A: If the forecast calls for heavy rain or other prohibitive weather, I will be in touch 24-48 hours beforehand to make a call. We will reschedule your portrait session for the next available date at no charge. Overcast skies are actually wonderful for photos, so we won't reschedule for a simple lack of sunshine!
Q: For weddings, have you photographed at our venue before? A: I have been fortunate to work at many of Connecticut's most beautiful wedding venues. If I haven't been to yours before, that's not a problem at all! I always arrive early on the wedding day to scout the location for the best light and photo opportunities. A new venue is often a source of fresh inspiration!
After Your Session
Q: When will we receive our photos? A: My standard turnaround time for portrait sessions (Signature & Mini) is 2-3 weeks. For weddings and events, your full, beautiful gallery will be delivered within 6-8 weeks of your event date. I always send a few sneak peeks within 48 hours because I know how excited you are to see them!
Q: How many photos will we receive? A: The number of images varies based on the service. A Signature Session typically yields 60+ images, while a Mini Session includes a smaller, specific set (e.g., 8-10 images). For an 8-hour wedding, you can expect to receive between 600-800+ fully edited, high-resolution images. I prioritize quality over quantity, ensuring that every photo in your gallery tells a piece of your story.
Q: How will our photos be delivered? A: All of your final, edited images will be delivered through a beautiful, private online gallery. From there, you can easily download your high-resolution files, share them with family and friends, and even order professional-quality prints and albums directly from the gallery store.
Q: Do you give out the RAW or unedited files? A: No, I do not. The editing process is a crucial part of my artistic work and the final product you are investing in. Delivering unedited RAW files would be like a chef serving uncooked ingredients. I promise to deliver a gallery of stunning, fully finished images that represent my professional standard.
